With the custom magnetic materials and manufacturing process of Phoenix America Inc., complex shapes such as a Propellor or paddle wheel can be configured. Each fin or blade of the wheel is magnetized with a pole to be sense by any number of Phoenix America Inc. sensors.

Phoenix America Inc. magnetic paddle wheels have been used for speed detection on numerous marine applications. Phoenix America Inc. magnetic paddle wheel have been used in high speed transom mount sensors. The assembly of the paddlewheel and housing do not project below the hull of the marine vehicle which results in minimal spray and drag. Since the paddlewheel does not project below the hull, it is protected from damage by beaching, trailering, or objects in the water.
